Waldemar Buczynski

Australian, born Warsaw, Poland.

Waldemar Buczynski graduated with a Master of Fine Arts Degree from the Academy of Fine Arts, Warsaw (1974-1979) and received a Merit Award at the Graduation Exhibition. In 1980 he received a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture and Arts and exhibited a solo exhibition of paintings at the International Club of Books and Magazines and later that year at the Critics Gallery in Warsaw.

In 1981 he arrived in Melbourne, Australia and in 1987 held a solo exhibition of paintings with Tolarno Galleries, South Yarra. In 1988 he exhibited at the First International Contemporary Art Fair,Melbourne and was a Finalist for the Sulman Prize, Art Gallery of NSW.

Since that time he has exhibited at a number of Australian Galleries, including the Australian Galleries in Melbourne, and in Tasmania and Western Australia.

He is also well recognised as for his illustrations including the award winning children’s book Dancing in the Anzac Deli. His illustrations have been featured in Australian magazines, such as the ‘Business Review Weekly’ and the ‘Australian Rationalist’

Currently he spends time between Hobart and Melbourne.
